PortaLaw’s B Corp Birthday

It’s our B Corp Birthday! Find out the what, why and when…

For PortaLaw, becoming a B Corp was a conscious choice driven by a belief in the power of business to create positive change for people and the planet. We thought, are we doing enough for the environment, our clients and our employees?

What even is a B Corp?

A B Corporation is more than just a stamp of approval, it's a movement. It signifies a commitment to balancing purpose with profit, considering the impact of business decisions on people and the planet. As a Certified B Corp, we undergo rigorous assessments to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

B Corp Certification is the only Certification that measures a company’s entire social and environmental performance, with its tool: the B Impact Assessment. The B Corp Certification differentiates good companies from what is just good marketing. Certification doesn’t just show what our strengths and weaknesses are today— it also commits us for the long term, creating a sustainable business, which benefits everyone!

Being a B Corp is more than a stamp, a badge of honour, or a seal of approval. It means we live our values and it means our employees, stakeholders, and suppliers do too. We're part of a movement and global community of businesses that, collectively, make an impact for good and meet the highest standards of social and environmental impact.

PortaLaw became a Certified B Corporation one year ago.

Why did we become a B Corp?

Because we are optimistic at our core and believe in better. We believe that just as our legal practice is based in accountability and transparency, so should our commitment to sustainability, the planet, equal and fair hiring, and reporting on our goals and impact.

At PortaLaw, we believe that the impact of our work extends beyond legal victories. We chose to become a Certified B Corporation to amplify our commitment to social and environmental responsibility. For us, being a B Corp isn't just a Certification; it's a pledge to make a positive difference in our community and beyond. We believe that work should bring joy, not just to us but to everyone we interact with and represent.

When?

Funny you should ask! January 2024 marks our one-year B Corp Birthday! It's been a year of purpose, impact, and positive change. Join us in celebrating this milestone as we continue to advocate for workplace joy, ethical practices, and making a meaningful impact in the legal landscape. Here's to many more years of B Corp excellence!

What’s next?
