Paula Krawus presented on The Right to Silence and Non-Disclosure Agreements

Paula Krawus, cofounder of PortaLaw

The misuse of NDAs (Non Disclosure Agreements) in cases of bullying and harassment, and sexual harassment and assault, is gaining airtime in Canada. Other jurisdictions have laws already that limit the use of NDAs in these scenarios, and BC has contemplated similar legislation.

On April 11, 2024, Paula participated in a panel discussion with the Canadian Bar Association (BC Division) about the pros and cons of banning or limiting NDAs, and why it is important we solve the issue of their misuse. Paula also spoke about minimizing re-traumatization followed alleged traumatic events and what other jurisdictions are doing on this issue, both inside and outside of Canada.

If you are being asked to sign an NDA, or want someone else to sign one, get legal advice first!
